All the Wifi Passwords for Airports Around the World on One Map

Backpacking around the world often means having to spend long periods of time sitting around in airports waiting for your next flight. As I am sure you will know, most airports try and charge silly amounts for the privilege of wifi. Given the choice between paying for internet and enjoying a cold beer, you can find me at the bar.

Now, thanks to security engineer and travel blogger Anil Polat, you can have your beer and drink it too – so to speak. Anil has created an interactive map which is updated on a regular basis, cleverly showing the wifi passwords and networks of airports all around the world. Genius! So now you can sit in the bar browsing the net for things to do and places to go making far better use of your time and money.

No more paying $1 per minute or $5 for 50 MB. Just zoom in on the airport you are in and voila, you have your password. Obviously, this requires internet access to access the map in the first place but Mr. Polat has also turned it into a downloadable offline version. here.

Featuring passwords from more than 130 airports around the world, all you need to do is find yourself a plug socket, login to the wifi, and you are set. Either that or buy into the business class lounge for between $30 – $100+ and have access to a whole load of other goodies like unlimited free bar and buffet – but that’s another story.

Check out the map below and be sure to visit Anil’s blog if you wish to contribute to the list. Things like this only get better when everybody gets involved so remember to bookmark this page for future reference.
